UPCOMING EVENTS The Recorder Ensemble along with the Fourth and Fifth Grade Choruses will be presenting their long awaited Spring Concert, "The Traveling Show", at the Medfield High School at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. All of the selections are about places to travel to and the different ways to get there. The Recorder Ensemble should report to the auditorium stage in the High School at 6:00 pm to set up and warm up. Concert dress is black pants/skirt with a white shirt. Students can also sport a vest if they have one! Please note that we will be having a dress rehearsal at Dale Street on May 22nd during school. Students should bring their music and recorders for this practice. Other Upcoming Events: June 6 - In school Performance at Memorial School June 7 - Last Day of Recorder Ensemble - An Awards party will be held during our usual morning rehearsal time. All parents are welcome to attend. More information will be forthcoming! GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR CLUB: The Recorder Club meets together before school on Thursdays to play the recorder together in an ensemble setting. We use the soprano, alto and tenor recorders as well as pitched and unpitched percussion instruments to make music together. The purpose of the club is to enjoy the process of music making, but we usually present at least two concerts each year. The students earn their place in this ensemble. They must learn to read and play the seven pitches taught on the recorder in general music by the end of the fourth grade. An invitation to participate in the Recorder Club is sent home in June to the students who have mastered the skills necessary to enjoy participation in this faster paced music ensemble.
