Hello Medfield Marimba Members, Parents and Fans,
My name is Mr. Ruggiero and I am the director of the Ngoma Dzakanaka Marimba Bands for the Medfield Public Schools. Ngoma Dzakanaka means, "beautiful songs", and this is the official web page for the marimba program. Please refer to this page for general information, concert information and rehearsal changes or cancellations if need be. I look forward to working with your children this year. Important Information
Announcements: Marimba rehearsals for the advanced and intermediate groups are on Monday, and Wednesday, respectively unless there is no school. The Thursday classes follow a predetermined schedule. That schedule is available on this website.
Rehearsals: The Advanced Group will meet on Monday from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Memorial School in the music room. If school is not in session, rehearsals are canceled. The Intermediate Group will meet on Wednesday from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Memorial School in the music room. Students may arrive at 2:45 and work independently until 3:00. If school is not in session, rehearsals are canceled. The Thursday class will meet at designated times from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the music room at Memorial.
Alerts: The concert, held at Dale Street School, for Zimbabwean orphans raised about $1,700. Thank you to all those who attended. Also, the auction we offered to the Coalition raised, $5,700.
Special Notes: An open house for the Thursday class will be held on Thursday, June 6. Students should arrive at 3:00 pm and the parents should arrive at 3:30 pm. The students will play the songs that they have been working on and teach the parents a piece one of the pieces as well.
Advanced and Intermediate Group Concert Information:
An open house will be held for parents of the group members at the last rehearsal. The Advanced Group Open House will be held on Monday, June 3. Students should arrive at 2:30 pm and parents should arrive at 3:15 pm. The Intermediate Group Open House will be held on Wednesday, June 5. Students should arrive by 3:00 pm and the parents should arrive at 3:30 pm.
The students will play the new pieces that they have been preparing and will teach the parents a simple piece as well. Hope to see you all there.
