Philosophy & Mission For The Class

My personal philosophy of visual art education is to give students the
opportunity to develop a natural expressiveness and to inspire creativity.
In emphasizing creativity the students feel comfortable expressing thought
and feelings more freely in his/her artwork. I believe it to be a goal to
teach the principles and elements of design and to have the students take
these and implement them in their own art projects.
Having students look at visual art in a positive working environment and
making them feel comfortable exploring different materials and techniques are
very important to their art experience. Altogether I want the students to:
have a sense of art appreciation, increased self-esteem, be able to work well
with others, problem solve, and have a sense of safety. Art is in my heart
and soul. I hope to give as much of my love and inspiration of the arts to
my students so they may take that inspiration and develop their own
interpretation and art appreciation.

Students will be exposed to master artists, cultures, and techniques through
a variety of teaching strategies, the multiple-intelligence’s, variety of
materials, resources and technology. Artists, techniques, and media, will be
introduced within lessons by reading artists biographies, analyzing artwork,
and class demonstrations. I believe in using a variety of methods,
materials, and resources to engage, expose, encourage and motivate students
to have a sense of self-confidence and to achieve their highest potential.
With emphasis placed upon the National Standards for Art Education and the
Massachusetts Frameworks by incorporating the strands and standards, the
student becomes proficient in the visual arts for academic success and
personal growth.
