When is grade 6 instrument night, and why is it held?
Instrument Rental Night

Location: Mountview Cafeteria
Time: 7:00 PM
Purpose: Rent or buy musical instruments

Dear Parent,
The Mountview Music Department would like to invite band or string students
to “Instrument Night”. Students who do not yet have an instrument should
attend.
French Music Company has served our program in a very reliable fashion for
more than 20 years, and will be present to explain their “Rent to own”
program.
Since the purchase of a musical instrument can be expensive, it would be
wise
to attend this program before making any decisions.
One important point: Although these instruments are of high quality and
brand
new, they are sometimes mishandled and in need of repair.
As a service to our students, French Mus. Co. will pick up and repair
broken
instruments in a timely fashion.
They will also provide a loaner instrument while the instrument is being
repaired. The cost is minimal for this part of the program!
Instruments will be available for purchase or rental on this night!

How much practice time is required of band students?
Band students are asked to practice 2 ˝ hours per week outside of school. It
is expected that with this minimal effort, great individual improvement will
take place.
It is recommended that the 2 ˝ hours happen over several days, maybe ˝ hour
per session.
A sample practice record is printed below. Each student should have one.
The student page also includes a parent signature line.

Which musical instrument is easiest to play?
There is no easy musical instrument.
Everyone can learn to play an instrument, but not with out many hours of
practice. If a student works hard and constantly practices, great
improvement
will take place, and it will sound easy to others.
Only the student who has put in many hours of practice will know that it
took
a lot of work to sound great!
