The Kids in the Kommunity is a Mountview and PTA sponsored group made up of students in all 3 grades. Our object is to meet approximately once a month and once a month go into our community to commit random acts of kindness and planned activities that will meet the needs of those less fortunate.

Thursday, October 15, 2009

The first Kids in the Kommunity meeting was held today with approx. 75 students in attendance. Awesome! Last year's secretary, Julia "Bling" Morrison offered to take the minutes. Absent was Claudia Eddy due to illness. Members were given an information form to fill out. Our discussion centered on types of events in our near future and possible assistance from the teaching staff and/or parent pool as this year's numbers are much greater than anticipated! Please monitor this webite and icon for all future coorespondence.

Some updates are as follows:

The first Kids in the Kommunity dance is scheduled for March 26!! Thanks Mrs. Hughes!

Mackenzie and I met with the representatives from the Red Barn who asked us to set up a date in April and then another in the summer, when we could help them to clean up the property after the winter months.

We have kicked off our food drive for the Wachusett Food Pantry. Each homeroom has a container to collect food and each homeroom teacher is counting the pieces that come in. The containers were donated by Lindsay Deyo's father. Thanks Mr. Deyo! The homeroom that donates the most food by Thankgiving will be awarded a special award by Mr. Shaw. I predict homeroom 100 will win!

Mr. Bell has agreed to once again lead us on a caroling adventure as we get closer to our winter break. We will look to set the date this week. Thanks Mr. Bell!
