The soda tab bracelets are coming along but we need more people to stay after in smaller groups to make more! We want to make as many as we can. We are thinking about making them during activity period some day.
The dance is coming up soon on January 20th! We need people to start bringing in soda, water, and candy. Have any ideas? We need ideas to make this dance stand out and be different from all of the other dances. Right now we are thinking of a flash mob, 50/50 raffle, and a theme. The idea we have now id that during the day of the dance, it will be Fancy Friday, then at the dance it willl be New Years Eve themed!
Erin Walker talked to us about helping out at a blood drive. She will look into this and give more details in the upcoming meetings.
We are teaming as a big group with the Kids in the Kommunity, and Student Council, to collect old cell phones for Soldiers. Any old phones will work and will be appreciated. These old phones will give the soldiers a chance to call home. They will recieve a call card that will gove them a certain amount of minuted that they can use. Any time to call home is Gold to them! Please help us with collecting them!
We started talking about the dodgeball tournament with the student council and will be getting more details in the future!
A couple of weeks ago we talked about being a leader and goals we can ste for ourselves. Some of them were:
My goal is...
"to welcome the new 7th graders into NJHS and create a happy atmosphere for everyone at school"..E.S.
"to improve my leadership skills throughout NJHS by listening to members and making everyone feel that
their ideas are important"...E.B.
"to help make our diversity day better and to help everyone learn that it's good to be different and stand
out"...E.L.
"to make myself a better leader and teacher"..K.L.
"to better appreciate everything that I have by giving back to my community and helping those in need"..L.B.
"to inspire younger grades and students"..M.P.
"to participate in more free service around Holden"..M.B.
"to become more patient and understanding throught Charity work"..C.E.
"to give back to a town that has already given me so much"..L.F.
We hope to accomplish these goals and many more!

Induction Commitee led by Katherine Lindberg:
Have a 7th grade meeting for those interested in applying for NJHS
The following is what we would do to advertise the pre-metting at the beginning of term 2 in the cafeteria:
make an announcement at lunch
explain communtiy service
explain how we benefit the school
explain the application process
possibly hold an application workshop for those who get accepted
explain fundraisers
encourage students to join
create a handout for the students to take after the meeting!
Diversity Day Committtee(Lead by Lauren Robichaud-President):
-food tasting from around the world?
-Some sort of reward for participation, kids need a motive to participate in the activities..
-Perhaps an overall MVP award at each station who gets candy or an overall MVP for the day who gets something larger like a giftcard?
-Based on experience(I worked tye die) it was definitely a hit, it broke up all the physical activites
and gave kids a little down time, however maybe we could fundraise for the tee
shirt because I know alot of kids wanted them but didnt bring the money needed to purchase them
-Based on experience, athletic games(capture the flag, and activities of that kind) were definielty a hit
Events Comittee(Lead by Erin Bugbee-president):
