Student Materials
Students are required to keep a math notebook (I call these math
journals) to keep all classroom notes and homework in at all times. On
occasion I will check student journals for items related to the unit we are
covering. All tests, quizzes, homework, handouts, and returned work should be
kept in this notebook until after each unit test (a pocket folder or
accordion binder works best for keeping loose paperwork).
Textbook - Prentice Hall Course 2 Mathematics
Pencils, NO PENS at any time except for taking notes in journals!!

Grading
Homework 20% (10% completion/effort, 10% accuracy)
Quizzes/Tests 70% (quizzes are weighted once, test twice)
Notebook/Classroom Engagement 10%

Weekly schedules and daily objectives:
Lesson schedules are typically posted in a designated area at the front of
the classroom. Weekly homework and daily objectives are posted as well. I
reserve the right to modify either at any time to accommodate our schedule.

Homework
Homework is typically assigned daily and students are encouraged to be neat,
accurate, and complete. All work is required for full credit. Please refer to
my Grade7 Blue Math Homework Procedures and Expectations page on my website.

Discipline
I will give sufficient warning when a students behavior is inappropriate in
the classroom. If these warnings are not effective, and school policy
dictates that the form of discipline rests with me, I will either issue an
after school detention or what I call a Written Detention. These Written
Detentions are typically 150 to 250 word essays where the student has the
opportunity to explain why their behaviors were inappropriate. These essays
have to be signed by a parent/guardian.

Quizzes/Tests/Quests
Quizzes - Assesses student understanding of new material.
Quests - Assesses student understanding of new material as well as any
previous material.
Tests - Assesses student understanding of previous/new material at the end of
a unit or chapter.
I reserve the right to announce or not announce a quiz/quest, unless
otherwise required by law. Tests will be announced at least three days in
advanced.

Extra help
I will be available for extra help before school with sufficient notice.
All available extended notes, study guides, practice quizzes, and tests are
available via my website.
