Typed draft of your mystery story – This was originally due last Friday, and I was very disappointed by how few students, first, completed it, and second, paid any attention to the requirements on the guideline sheet, which was handed out last Thursday. If you do not have your draft, you will be unable to participate in our in-class editing, therefore, plan on staying after Tuesday for a detention if you do not have this important assignment completed! Meeting each requirement on the guideline sheet will count as a graded assignment. No excuses! This assignment was originally due last Friday.

The final copies of all nine typed circles for your magnifying glass must be done for today. Remember that your circles should be colorful, so add colored pencil or marker to your clip art if you do not have colored ink. Of course, you can hand draw and color your pictures as well.

If you are typing, you have a Microsoft Word document set up under your WRSD account, on your flash drive, or at home that contains nine 4 ½ by 4 ½ circles. (Mrs. Swalec and Mrs. Munzner will help you with this.) Know whether you will draw pictures or use clip art on the sections that require a picture.

Do not assume you will have time to complete these assignments in school. Remember, we only have four computers in the classroom.

Note to parents/guardians: This was an in-class assignment last week. If your child had his/her fantasy book in class and worked productively, it should be already completed.

A completed plot diagram outlining the major events in your story is due today, as well as a typed draft of your introductory paragraph. Remember, manuscript rules must be followed on rough drafts, too. This means that you need to use 1.5 spacing, size 12 font, a proper heading, and margins. No “Word Art” or fancy font style is allowed. This copy needs to meet WRSD format rules. After the final copy is completed next week, you can make a second, more creative version with pictures and personal touches.
