Policies

Attendance:
If a student is absent, he/she is responsible for all homework due and
assigned on that day. You will have as many days as you were absent to make
up the work starting on your first day back to school. If you are absent on
the day before or the day of a test you will be expected to take the test on
the day that you come back to school. If you are absent in the days leading
up to the test you will be given 1 week to make up the test and any other
missed work.

Grading Scale:
Participation-5%, Homework-25%, Quizzes-30%, Tests-40%
All grades are a percentage (number right out of total).

Homework:
All homework, which is given almost every night, will be completed and all
work shown on a separate piece of paper. Homework will be checked for
completion every day. It will be scored as follows:

check+ =100 will be given for completed homework
check = 60 for partially completed (>50% complete)
check- = 25 for less than 50% completed
0 for homework not completed or no work shown.

If homework is not done the student has 1 day to make it up. Late homework
(1 day) will receive a ƒÀ. Homework after that will be given a zero. After
every 5 homework assignments, the grades will be averaged together and a
homework completion grade will be given. Approximately once a week a
homework assignment will be collected to be graded for accuracy. Prior
notice will not necessarily be given as to which homework will be collected.

Quizzes/Tests:
Quizzes can be announced or unannounced. At least two days notice of an
upcoming test (hopefully more) will be given. If your child receives a grade
of below 60 it will be necessary for you to sign the quiz or test and return
it to me the next day.

Extra Help:
I am available during the standard academic activity periods during the week
as well as before school on Monday thru Wednesday and after school on Monday
and Wednesday. If for some reason these times do not work please let me know
and we can arrange a mutually acceptable time.

Resources:
We will be utilizing the Pearson SuccessNet website which has an online
version of the textbook as well as additional exercises and access to most of
the homework worksheets.

Communication:
With Students: Homework assignments are posted in the classroom. I will try
to post homework assignments on my website but this is not always possible
and should not be the primary source. I do check email nightly so if the
students have a pressing question that can email me with the understanding
that sometimes it is late before I get to check my email.

With Parents: If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact
me. The best method to contact me is via email (Melissa_tooley@wrsd.net) and
this is how I would prefer to contact you. However, you can always call the
school at 508-829-5577 and leave a message and I will get back to as soon as
possible.
