Seventh Grade Health Course Outline and Information

Duration: one period everyday for one term
Areas to be covered:
Introduction to the health triangle (physical, social, mental and emotional)
Factors that affect your health
Decision Making
Goal Setting
Physical Health
Grooming and Personal Hygiene
Exercising and Keeping Fit
Eating a well balanced diet
Introduction to the prevention of Abuse and Violence
Introduction to the stages of Life (includes sex education, all classes same
gender, boys
only and girls only)
Project Alert: drug prevention program
Grading:
The grading is as follows toward your final grade: 40% test grades, 20% quiz
grades, 10% folder grade, 10% graded homework, 10% homework completion, and
10% class participation.
Expectations:
• Participate in class individually and cooperatively in groups
• Come to class prepared with your pen, pencil, folder, and agenda
• Be responsible to make up missed class work and homework
• Complete assignments by their due date, assignments passed in late
will lose 15 points per day
• Be respectful of individual and group dynamics during all classroom
activities
• Do the best work you are capable of accomplishing, thus SUCCESS!
Homework:
Homework assignments will be posted in the classroom on the agenda mate. If
you forget to write down the assignment, it is also found at the following
web sit: www.TeacherWeb. com.
Homework for 7 blue students
4/30 - Complete "My Health Triangle" which is due tomorrow ,May 1st. This
will be your first graded assignment.
5/1 - Complete the worksheet titled " Can you control your Health", which is
due tomorrow, May 2nd.
5/2 - Our first quiz of the term will be Monday, May 5th. Please study pages
2-5 in your folder.
5/12 - Start studying a little each evening for the Health test which will be
on Tuesday,5/20. Study pages 2-8 in your folder.
5/16 - Start seriously studying for the chapter one health test which will on
Tuesday ,5/20. Study pages 2-8 in your folder.
5/19 Chapter one testr is tomorrow. Please study pages 2-8 in your folder.
5/20 - Complete activities 1,2,& 3 for homework. Due tomorrow ,Wed., 5/21.
5/21 - Complete activity four for homework. Due tomorrow ,Thurs., 5/23.
5/23 - No Homework! Enjoy the long weekend!
5/27 - Complete the worksheet, " Can you break the food label code" . Due
tomorrow , Wed., 5/28.
5/28 - Complete the worksheet "Analyzing a Menu" due tomorrow, Thursday ,5/29.
5/29 - no homework!
5/30 - Keep a food log for one day. Write down everything you eat and drink
from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed. Please try to
include serving sizes . For example one cup of milk, or a half cup of green
beans. Please be specific by including type of food. For example don't just
list sandwich,instead list ham and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread.
This is due on Monday ,6/02.
Also just to let you know, there will be a quiz on Tuesday ,June 3rd. Please
study pages 9 - 14 in your folder. It's never too early to start studying
for the quiz!
6/2 - Transfer your food log onto the pyramid tracker worksheet. Study for
the quiz which will be given tomorrow in class. Study pages 9-14 and lessons
one and two in the vocabulary.
6/3 - Process your food log on your worksheet as we did with the sample log
in class. This is due tomorrow, 6/4.
6/6 - There is no written homework this weekend! HOWEVER, use this weekend
wisely and start studying for the chapter 9 unit test which will be given on
Thursday, June 12th. Study pages 9-20 in your folder. Also, just a
reminder, there will be a term folder check on June 12th and 13th. All
pages should be numbered in the upper right hand corner of the page and
should be in numerical order.
