This week's share is a poem as part of The Great Poetry Race. Students
need to read their poem to as many people as possible. They should have
each person that heard them read it sign the back of the poem. The student
who has read the poem to the most people will earn a certificate to
acknowledge this achievement (their idea) and I will give the "winner" a
dollar to put into our chartiy collection that week. This activity
provides great fluency practice. True fluency is not just reading words
acurately, but reading them with feeling or understanding. Poems offer us
a great opportunity to develop our fluency.
