Why do we always have to stretch before class begins?

The reason we stretch in PE class is to teach you how to take care of your
body before and after exercising. It is important to know how to stretch all
the major muscles of the body. Stretching before and after exercise decreases
the chance of injury. Stretching your muscles warms the muscle up and a warm
muscle can perform more efficiently.

Why don't we play dodgeball in PE class?

That is my personal choice as your teacher. Dodgeball can be a fun game to
play but I choose not to play it with in my class because it can make people
feel bad about themselves if they are not good at it. There is also a lot of
standing around if you are out of the game which is something I don't like to
see in my class.

How can I improve my grade in PE class?

Getting a good grade in PE class has nothing to do with athletic ability.
Your grade is made up of 50% participation, 25% behavior, 25% respect. As
long as you willingly participate, show a good attitude, listen to directions
and show respect to your fellow students, teacher and equipment you will be
able to earn a high grade in PE.

Why do we do running laps as a warm-up?

Running laps as a warm-up is a great way to get your muscles warm, release
stress and increase cardiovascular endurance. After sitting at a desk nearly
all day running a few laps is a great way to let out all the built up
tension/excitement you have. Increasing you're cardiovascular endurance is a
tremendous way to keep your body as healthy as possible.

Can I still participate fully in PE class if I have asthma?

OF COURSE!! Some of the greatest athletes in the world are asthmatic, it
should not be used as an excuse. You will never be put in harms way during PE
class and if you take an inhaler it should always accompany you to class.
Taking your inhaler before class will enable you to fully participate in each
class.
