Thank you for helping your children to complete their weekly handwriting
papers. We are noticing better letter formations. Please continue to monitor
how your child is holding pencils and scissors. Look for correct finger
placement on both.
We have also noticed better numeral formation. Please know that reversals of
letters and numerals are very common with children of Kindergarten age and
are not usually anything about which to be concerned.
We are reminding children to regularly practice reading the Pre-Decodable
books that we send home. These are the booklets that introduce children to
new sight words. A daily practice of reading sight words will help your child
to remember them, recognize them in print and to write them and having this
ability will help them to move forward in their independent reading.
It would also be beneficial for children to have some at-home practice
learning coin names and values. In this world of "plastic" money, children
often do not have experiences using coins, so any help at home would be
appreciated.
Thank you for all that you do for your children's learning!
