| October brings discussions of the changing seasons. We'll be talking about
fall and apples, as well as doing some science, math and literacy-related
activities along those themes.
This month in our Fundations program, we'll cover the letters: Tt, Bb, Ff,
Nn, Mm, Cc, Aa, Ii and Rr. Letter names, letter sounds, letter formations,
as well as the phonemic awareness skills of rhyming and segmenting, will be
studied. We are teaching the concepts of print that involve top to bottom
and left to right progression when reading and writing. We are also teaching
the children about spaces between words; about authors and illustrators;
about "reading the pictures" in a book; and have introduced several
sight/high-frequency words.
In Math this month, we will be focusing on shapes, patterning, sorting and
classifying, measuring, numeral recognition, estimating and number sense.
