In reader's workshop we will be continuing our study of the nonfiction genre.  Currently the students are constructing a nonfiction conventions notebook to help them understand the different parts of a nonfiction book.
In writer's workshop we are also continuing to write nonfiction pieces.  They just finished a "How To" book and will be working on an "All About" book.
In Science we have started studying plants.  We have a great opportunity to grow flowers in our school green house.  We will be observing their growth and the students can take them home the night of the curriculum showcase.
In math students are finishing up their study of fractions.  We will continue working on measurement as well. We will move into working with money; making change, decimal notation and money amounts on a calculator.  In geometry we will be working on rotations, reflections, translations and enlargements.  Finally we will be going over test taking skills; problem solving strategies and exemplars.
