Mr. Hoyt spent half his childhood growing up in Waltham, and the other half
growing up in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. After graduating from high
school in Wolfeboro, Mr. Hoyt moved to Kenmore Square and attended Boston
University; he still goes to hockey games with the other BU terrier fans.
Mr. Hoyt returned to Waltham and began his career teaching science at the
Fitzgerald School (where he was once a student) and at the Plympton and
MacArthur Schools. He has been teaching fifth grade at Northeast since 2002.
Mr. Hoyt volunteers his time working with numerous committees at the school,
district, and state levels. Here at Northeast, Mr. Hoyt is the advisor to
Math Olympiad and the after school sports program. He is the Vice President
of the Waltham Educators Association. Within the Massachusetts Teachers
Association, he serves on the Board of Directors and is the Chairman of the
New Teacher Committee. Mr. Hoyt serves as a delegate to the National
Education Association conventions each summer; this year it was held in San
Diego.
When he's not teaching, Mr. Hoyt enjoys traveling, going to the movies,
trying new restaurants, catching a game at Fenway, going to a concert
at the Garden, or grilling in his back yard. He's a "wicked" Red Sox fan and
his favorite player is Jason Varitek. He also loves trains and travels on
them whenever the opportunity presents itself. Mr. Hoyt spends many weekends
visiting family and friends near beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee.
