HOMEWORK (General Information) small medium large * As teachers and mothers, we recognize that life outside of school is hectic; however, please try to help your children with homework. Helping your children supports their learning. Homework will be assigned every day, except Friday. Occasionally, homework will be assigned over a weekend. During MCAS weeks, no homework will be assigned, except perhaps a long term project. Your child should read at least 20 minutes each afternoon or evening. Please look at the "Specific Homework" section of the web page. Spelling/Vocabulary Word tests will be each Friday morning, unless otherwise noted. Your child is responsible for completing homework daily and for returning the homework the next day to school (unless there is a due date on the assignment other than the next day of school). The homework assignment sheet should be returned every day. PLEASE INITIAL THE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT SHEET EACH EVENING. Projects will have due dates. Reminders of due dates will appear on the Homework Assignment Sheet. If your child is having difficulty completing a homework assignment, please write a note on the homework paper. Math assignments will usually be accompanied by a "Reteach" page that explicitly describes the concept that the homework is reinforcing. Also, English Language Learner pages may also be sent home if they reinforce vocabulary or a concept. Homework reflects concepts taught that day, or previous days, in the classroom. Be reassured that homework is for reinforcement of a concept that has been taught in the classroom...it is not "new" information. Automatically clean input to optimize for the web.
