How do I become a member of the PTO?

PTO membership is $5.00 per family.  Paid annually.  
You can join online by visiting: 
http://www.plainvilleschools.ptomanager.com/
 
Once you have completed the online application, you can forward your $5 dues
to the school to the attention of The Plainville PTO. Only PTO members who
have paid their dues can vote at PTO meetings.

How can I support the efforts of the PTO?

You can support the PTO in a variety of ways. You can volunteer to be a
chairperson for a committee, event and/or fundraiser such as our Scholastic
Bookfairs, BoxTops for Education Committee & Campbell's Soup Label Committee 
toname a few. Or you can help out by volunteering at an event or fundraiser.
Contact a PTO Executive Board member or committee chairperson if you are 
interested in volunteering.  Contact information can be found in the PTO 
Directory.

How are the funds used that are raised by the PTO?

The PTO funds most school fieldtrips, in whole or part, as well as the
transportation to those fieldtrips (i.e.;Lowell Historical Center [Grade 4],
Nature's Classroom [Grade 6]....).  Additional funds are distributed to
various classrooms for subscriptions such as "Time for Kids"(Grade 6), "Super
Science"(Grade 5) & Weekly Reader (pre-school) and more.  The PTO also
allocates funds for playground equipment, library materials, Family  Math
Challenge and more.

How can I volunteer during the day?

On occasion, we need help copying, stuffing envelopes, making phone calls and
other misc. tasks.  You can indicate those things you are interested helping
with when you fill out your PTO membership application.  We will put you on a
list and contact you as needed.

When does the PTO meet?

The PTO normally meets one time a month on a Monday or a Wednesday night, 
alternating between the Jackson and Wood School each month.  Please see the
calendar section of the PTO webpage for location, dates and times.

Who do I contact with general PTO questions and/or committee information?

PTO President, Debbie Lacy and all members of the Executive Board welcome 
your questions and interest in our organization. Debbie can be reached at 
508-699-8677 or by e-mail at debbielacy@comcast.net.  Executive Board 
members' contact information as well as all committee chairpersons' contact 
information is located in the PTO Directory.  The PTO Directory is posted on 
this website as well as in the PTO Bulletin Boards at the entry of both 
schools. If it is clear which committee you have a question for, please feel 
free to contact that chairperson directly.
