Class Rules

Mr. Smith’s Class Rules

“Those who are good at making excuses,

are seldom good at anything else”

1.           Come to class on time.  Standing outside the door and rushing in after the bell has begun to ring will constitute a tardy.  You must be INSIDE the door when it begins ringing to be counted on time. The time you are late for class will be made up 3x before or after school. (5 minutes late = 15 minute detention)

2.           Attend to personal needs before coming to class.  Do not ask for a pass during the first fifteen minutes of class or during a lecture unless you have a real emergency.

3.           Remain in your seat unless you have permission to get up.  Throw trash away at the end of class on your way out and do NOT sharpen pencils while I am speaking to the whole class.

4.           NO FOOD OR DRINK in the classroom.  Do not eat candy or other food in class unless you have been given special permission.  Water is acceptable in class but not at computer stations.

5.           Bring required materials to class EVERY day unless you are otherwise directed.  (Science binder, paper, writing utensil, homework, and a smile.)

6.           Talk only when permitted.  Be aware of the situation since quiet talking is allowed in some situations and speaking to the entire group without raising your hand may be allowed in others.  I will remind you once and expect compliance.

7.           Use polite speech and body language.  Show respect to teachers, students, and yourself.  Unkind teasing and impolite behavior is unacceptable.

8.           DO YOUR OWN WORK.  Students caught cheating will receive a zero on that assignment, a referral to the dean, and a phone call home.  Both the student who shares their work for an independent assignment AND the person who copies it will suffer the same consequences.  I expect you to do your own work and be sure no one can copy it.

9.           If an assignment, quiz, or test is missed due to sickness or excused absence you must speak with me ASAP and will have one week to make up the missed work.

10.      Follow the teacher’s directions immediately.
