Welcome to our school! Our mission is to educate the whole child. We believe that all children can excel at academics, and that activities and citizenship are just as important. Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to Rockport Middle School and to our school website. This site is one of the first sources of information that parents and students experience in getting to know our school. We want you to get a positive outlook on our school and on the experiences that will help our students prosper. There are three central principles that guide the development of the ethos of this school; those principles are "challenge," "protection" and the "golden rule". We want to provide our students with a school experience in which they can shine. The program is designed to address the diverse needs of our students and to cultivate and develop the aspirations of our students. We owe our students and our staff safety, security and a happy and productive place to learn and to work; we owe them a place in which there is respect between staff and students and where there is respect among the students for each other. We owe you an experience which provides opportunity and which incorporates accountability. We hope that this site provides a good beginning to your understanding of our school. Thank you.

TARDINESS

School begins @ 7:35AM each day and ends @ 2:10PM. Students are allowed three unexcused tardies per quarter. These are for such things as alarm clocks that didn't go off, car keys that can't be located, cars that won't start, etc. Tardiness is excused only in the case of illness, medical appointments, or family emergencies. After the third unexcused tardy, detention will be assigned. Please make every effort to assure your student arrives to school on time.

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION

Did you know that the Middle School participates in the Boxtops for Education program? Many parents are accustomed to sending their boxtops in to the Elementary School but stop when their kids hit middle school. RMS also participates in the program and the money raised from the program is put to use in various ways around the school. Please bring in/send in your official boxtops; there is a General Mills cereal box on the office counter where they may be deposited.

Student of the Month

Congratulations to October Students of the Month:
Grade 6 - Mateo Laverde;
Grade 7 - Peter McManus;
Grade 8 - Gil Clark

Absences & Tardiness

Parents are reminded that local and state laws require a note when a student is absent from school. Students should return to school with a note stating the date and reason for the absence and signed by a parent/guardian. The same is true when a student comes to school late. Parents who call the school in the morning to report an absence do NOT need to follow-up with a note. THANKS!
