Thu Feb 15 12:19:16 EST 2007 The School Committee met last night in an abbreviated session to review the FY08 budget recommendations from Superintendent DiTullio. At their meeting on February 7, the Finance Committee asked the school department to provide a revised guidelines budget (which was reduced from the original guidelines by an additional $180,000), plus several additional scenarios so that the Finance Committee and Board of Selectmen can study the feasibility of a Prop 21/2 override for FY08. The School Committee agreed with Dr. DiTullio's assessment and recommended that she forward her proposal to the Finance Committee.
Also at that meeting, veteran member Debra Bloomingdale announced that she will not seek reelection for her seat that expires in May 2007. The School Committee urges anyone with an interest in the school system to consider filing nomination papers for running for this open position (contact the Town Clerk for more information). Please contact any member of the committee if you have any questions about the roles and responsibilities of the School Committee.
