About The Teacher
I graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and an extended concentration in Studio Art. I received a Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education (PreK-3) and Special Needs from Wheelock College. I am certified by the Massachusetts Department of Education in Early Childhood and Special Needs and this will be my ninth year teaching Kindergarten at the Runkle School. Prior to residing at Runkle School, I worked in various settings such as the Pierce School in Brookline, and school systems such as Newton, Needham, and Roxbury, MA. I have always been a lifetime learner and thrive on applying new information, ideas, and skills into my teaching. I love teaching kindergarten and facilitating student growth in all areas. My husband, children, and I reside in Needham, Massachusetts. I have two children... Declan who is almost 5 years old and Elisabeth who will soon be 1 years old. I learn so much from my children on a daily basis, which I am able to apply to the classroom.
Mission Label:
Mission
My goals for the children involve meeting their physical, social, and emotional needs within an environment, which encourages optimum intellectual and social development and fosters a passion for learning within a caring and helpful community. To provide 10 key components that contribute to a successful kindergarten year; Routine, Responsibility, Socialization, Confidence, Expression, Discovery (Math), Problem Solving, Literacy, Motor Skills, Learning Through Play. It is my hope to establish a partnership with parents to help accomplish these goals together. It is also my goal to continue to acquire new knowledge, ideas, and resources to share with my students and parents.
