Week of November 9-13:
   I hope everyone had a nice weekend. We have a busy week ahead of us 
because grades close on Friday! 

   Flyers just went out for the Annual 8th Grade Dinner on November 18,2009.  
This year's dinner focuses on the cuisine of Indonesia. Students have been 
hard at work making the decorations for the dinner and in a few short weeks 
will begin the food preparation as well. If you've been to an 8th grade 
dinner before you know how much fun they are. If you haven't, you're in for a 
treat so give it a try!

 Here's what the middle school will be doing this week in Spanish and 
Religion:

    The 8th grade will be reciting their oral dialogs about ordering in a 
restaurant.  We will also be reviewing the verbs ser and estar. Finally, they 
will be writing a review of their favorite restaurant. The Chapter 5B test 
will be on next Tuesday or Wednesday.

    The 7th grade just beun their oral dialogs on what they like and don't 
like to do. They know how to agree and disagree with positive
and negative statements and soon will be learning how to conjugate verbs in 
Spanish.

    In Religion the 7th grade has begun Chapter 5. In this chapter we talk 
about the four Gospels and talk about the symbols associated with them. We 
will also be talking about bringing in items for the food pantry.

     The 6th grade finished Chapter 3 in Religion and we will now beging the 
Keeping Children Safe program. You should have received a letter today 
stating the objectives of the program and also what we will be talking about 
in the first lesson.

    In Spanish, the 6th graders learned about animals and how animal sounds 
are different to each language. For example, in English when we think of a 
sound that a rooster makes we say, "Cock-a-doodle-doo". In Spanish, they say 
a rooster says, "Ki-kiri-ki". We had fun with this topic. Next up in Spanish 
we will talk about the weather in Spanish and students will have to make up a 
weather forecast.
