What should I send in for extra clothing?
Every child should have an extra set of clothes at school, in
case of accidents, spills at snack or lunch, etc... The extra
clothes can be any clothes however if it is easier please feel
free to send in an extra gym uniform or white shirt and blue
sweatpants. Please make sure your child has an extra set of
underwear and socks. Please label all items!
When is my child's sharing day and what should he/she bring?
Children will be assigned sharing on specific days. You will get
a note home and can check this website for the date and object
your child should bring in that particular week. Sharing will be
a part of our Kindergarten homework and will go along with the
letter, color, theme, etc..of that week. Sharing may not be
every week. No violent toys or weapons should be brought in to
school.
What is the birthday policy?
We celebrate birthdays by having a dress-down day. Your child is
also given a crown and small gift(pencil/sticker/or bookmark) and
visits Mrs. Mungovan's office for a birthday pencil. The school-
wide policy is no food!
When is snack/recess?
We go outside for recess everyday. Please make sure your child
has the appropriate clothing for the weather(hats, mittens,
coats, etc...). Please send your child to school with a snack
everyday. Please do not send in candy for snack. Also, I would
ask that you save the juice boxes for lunch and send in a labeled
water bottle for snack instead. Snack time is short and children
end up throwing away the juice after a few sips. Water bottles
should be clearly marked and will be kept on a shelf where your
child will be allowed to have a drink throughout the day. This
cuts back on germs from the water fountains, as well as time
spent outside the classroom. The water bottles will be brought
home and washed on a daily basis.
Are there opportunities to help out the class?
I love having parents help me throughout the year. Even if you
are a parent that works, I have many things for you to help with.
Things that parents have helped with in the past include:
*coming in to photocopy
*chaperoning field trips
*coming in the classroom to file, organize, etc...
*reading with individual or groups of students
*making phonics and math games
*sending in materials and other items needed for the class
*putting together our Phonics Readers
*tearing out pages from our workbooks
What should my child bring to school each day?
Every day your child should have their Take Home Folder. This
folder will be used to bring home completed work, notes from me
or the office, and homework assignments/projects. You should use
this folder to return any completed assignments to school, notes
to me or the office, and a lunch slip or lunch money. Your child
will also need a snack and a lunch every day. If your child is
buying hot lunch, you must send in a slip letting us know if your
child is having a single or double serving.
