Dear Parents,
It was a pleasure speaking with all of you at our conferences this week.
Your comments and questions were most valuable to me. As I've stated before
please feel free to check in with me at any time. I look forward to meeting
with everyone else next week. Thank you to all of you for donating towards
our "Holiday Bread Baking Project". The children enjoyed this tremendously
and felt great about giving back to the community. This project would not
have been possible without your donations and of course the help of all our
room parents, volunteers and all of the wonderful "baking helpers". I hope
everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I hope all of you are enjoying this special time of year. The holiday and
Advent Season is upon us!!!
This web page is under construction. I still need to inform you about our
math, reading and writing we worked on this week. It will be updated over
the weekend. It's already 6:30 pm on Friday and it's time to head home for
the weekend!! Have a wonderful weekend everyone! God
Bless!
Religion: The children were given a Good Deed tree. During the Advent
season they will write a good deed they will carry out each day. The
children will be demonstrating how they are outstanding caregivers through
good deeds done throughout the Christmas season. We continue to discuss what
are good and bad behaviors and choices as we use the Ten Commandments as our
guide. Our Reconciliation celebration is just around the corner. Please
make sure you continue to take some time to discuss Reconciliation and use
the sheets you received from the Reconcilation meeting for practicing.
Reading and Language Arts: In reading we finished Unit 2. Reading
Groups/Literacy Centers):
Grammar: We are always working on reediting our written work.
Math: The math is moving along! This week we worked a lot on money and
telling time.
Writing: In regards to the childrens' writing journal it's used for not only
Writing Across the Curriculum and the writing process that's corrected by the
children and myself it's also for free writing and reflection.
I continue to monitor their behavior charts each day. They know that it's
not a punishment but a way to reflect about their behavior/actions and how to
improve upon them. We are always discussing the importance of being good
listeners, showing kindness to one another, working cooperatively and team
effort! I appreciate All your support!
The children have been working diligently. As you can see from our daily
work which comes home, our lessons are many and varied and the curriculum is
tight. The children are working hard and putting their best foot forward as
second graders. Each and everyone is making great progress.
Just a few reminders:
1.On Tuesday, December 8th there will be a Mass at 10:15am.
2.The second graders are collecting items for personal care packages. If you
can send in toothbrushes, toothpastes and floss it would be great!
3.Early dismissal at 11:00am on Thursday, December 10th for Parent/Teacher
conferences.
4.Next Tuesday I will be sending home a holiday book order. If you wish to
order any books please send in A.S.A.P. *no later than Friday. Also, if you
want them to be a present you can send me a note and I'll make sure they go
home without your child knowing!
Once again, many thanks for ALL your continued support. If you need to
meet with me for any reason or have any questions or concerns please don't
hesitate to get in touch with me either by e-mail, phone or a note.
Fondly,
Miss Ablondi
