The High - 5 Club

This is a club for students who are interested in achieving "above and beyond" the
normal classroom expectations and have completed all the required class work. All you have to
do is choose a topic that interests you from the list provided, learn about it and then prepare
a presentation for the class. Let Mrs. Friedman know what you are doing and when your
presentation will be ready. All work must be Star Quality Work to be a member of the High – 5
Club.
To do the research, you may use books from the class library or from the school or town
library. In some cases, I have provided a website in which you can gather information. Most of
the work will be done in class. All of the work must be the student’s own work.
Learning never ends! Have fun.

You will find challenges in all areas of the curriculum. Below are some examples. . . . .

Science
• Name and learn about the stages of the water cycle. Make a poster or chart showing the
stages and explain what happens in each stage.

• Clouds are classified according to their appearance and height. Name and describe six
types of clouds. Illustrate what each cloud looks like.

Social Studies

• Make a landform diorama with a shoe box.

• Create a postcard from a country other than the United States to send to a family
member.

Math

• Draw the lines of symmetry for the capital letters of the alphabet.

• Write the numbers 1 - 100 in Roman numerals.

Language Arts

• Make a list of 20 verbs. Use some of the verbs in Four Star Sentences and illustrate
the sentences.

• Write a story for a book.
