TOMIE DEPAOLA/FICTION AUTHOR STUDY:
This famous artist, designer, educator, painter, muralist, author, and
illustrator was born in Connecticut on September 15, 1934. DePaola has
illustrated more than 200 books, nearly 90 of which he wrote himself.
DePaola's children's books include: the STREGA NONA series; folktales from
Italy and Mexico; Native American legends; OLIVER BUTTON; THE ART LESSON; NANA
UPSTAIRS, NANA DOWNSTAIRS; NOW ONE FOOT, NOW THE OTHER; BILL AND PETE; and
many more. His murals and paintings can be seen in many churches and
monasteries throughout New England. DePaola has designed greeting cards,
magazine and record album covers, and theater sets. His work is shown in
galleries and museums, and his books have been published in more than 15
countries. Today dePaola lives in New Hampshire with his four dogs. His studio
is in a large renovated 200-year-old barn.

VALERIE WORTH/POET STUDY:
