The world that we live in today is created from the events and ideas of the
past. Through our exploration of the civilizations and events of the past we
will develop a deeper understanding of the world today as well as improve our
skills as students, citizens, readers, public speakers, writers, and
historians. We will use the 8 themes of LEGGARTS (see attached) to examine
civilizations and eras around the world. World Civilizations is aligned with
the content, concepts and skills outlined in the Massachusetts History and
Social Science Frameworks. This course also incorporates many of the
expectations for student learning set forth by Shrewsbury High School.
