Well it's here!! HAPPY 2010! I hope that all of you enjoyed the holidays and
had a little "down time" to spend with your family. I can't believe that we
are once again at the start of another new year!

I want to thank you for your generosity with holiday gifts. I had planned on
sending thank you notes through the mail to the children but I forgot my
class list with the addresses so I will be sending them home in their folders
on Monday. I appreciate your kindness and I enjoyed the family Christmas
picture cards...thank you for sharing them with me (they are all on my frig
at home with all of the other holiday pictures!)

This week we will all be getting back into the school day routines and
schedules. After the high of the holidays and being on vacation it takes a
while to readjust to "reality" once agin. We will start Unit 3 in literacy
and hopefully plan on beginning "Walk to Read" groups by mid January.

Amazing Words: weigh, measure, healthy, bamboo, curious and explore.
Sight Words: we, me, she, with
  Letter/sound: Bb and Nn

Math:
In Math this week we will learn about using a template to draw pattern block
shapes and make our own designs, an introduction to using the calculator,
counting review, playing games for number writing and making new calendars
for the New Year 2010.

In Science, we will talk about winter and freezing/melting temperatures and
do a few simple experiments to see this happen. In Social Studies we will
discuss our goals for the New Year and what we want to learn this year. We
will read stories and make crafts to welcome the New Year 2010!!
