My philosophy of education is strongly routed in my belief that children
are our future, and it is up to us to give them what they need to reach
their
full potential.
I believe that every student can learn and that each child is
responsible for their own learning. As teachers it is up to us to provide
the opportunities for this learning to take place. Through exploration,
investigation and engaging lessons where students can collaborate not only
with the teacher, but with their peers, is an active approach, which I
believe, fosters that love for learning.
Striving to set high expectations for children so they can feel that
wonderful sense of accomplishment that follows their hard work and
perseverance is a personal goal of mine. This in turn fosters positive self-
esteem.
Teaching children to think critically and to question things is going
to
develop higher order thinking skills that we want our children to have in
order to become independent thinkers.
However, it is also necessary that children have a strong foundation of
the basic skills that are needed in order to be able to effectively
communicate their thoughts and ideas.
My classroom will be a place where everyone feels safe and we are all
surrounded by an opportunity to learn. A place where respect, for each
other
and ourselves, honesty, generosity, responsibility, compassion, acceptance,
self-discipline, perseverance, cooperation, manners and friendship come
together to make the best possible environment for learning to occur. It
will be a place where we all feel free to ask questions. My personal goal
is the hope I share with my students which is to be a lifetime learner. That
is my philosophy of education.
