Well I hope everyone had a Happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Of course I ate
too much but that is why I love Thanksgiving! I can not believe that we are
going into the month of December!! This year seems to be flying by us.
In social studies and science, to go with our story of the week “Bear Snores
On”, we will be discussing about what animals do and how they prepare for the
winter. Along with that we will also read numerous stories about the
Gingerbread Man and do a Vienn Diagram of the stories so the children can see
the differences and similarities between them. We will also make fun arts and
crafts with the gingerbread man
In literacy, the story this is week is:
Story of the Week: Bear Snores On
Phonics Skill: Cc
Amazing Words: sleep, cave, storm, winter, woods, blustery
High Frequency words: “we”, “my” and “like”
Comprehension Skill: Realism and Fantasy
In math, I will be assessing children this week on different math concepts
that the children have learned (counting, reading and writing numbers,
identifying shapes, etc) I will also teach them a card game called “Top It’.
You may remember this as “War”. This helps children identify numbers and
they practice telling which number is greater then or less then. I also plan
on introducing a number line to the children. A number line helps children
figure out addition and subtraction problems.
