Buying Instruments

Recorders

We use soprano recorders which are the best size to start with.  Inexpensive plastic ones are fine.    They can be purchased on line at https://musiciselementary.com/product_info.php?products_id=696&osCsid=6029b18b0d098c21fb1a5533ec760105 for $1.99 (these are the ones we use in music class). They can also be purchased for $4.99 at Ryme 'n Reason at the Christmas Tree Shop Plaza in Pembroke.

Guitar and Electric Bass

For guitar, acoustic or electric is a matter of personal choice.  Electric guitars are a little easier to play and can be heard over other instuments in a band so they are good for rock and Jazz.  Acoustic guitars do not require an amplifier and have a more natural tone.  Music Unlimited in Hanover has starter packages that are good for begginers.  Here is the link to their web site: http://www.musicunlimitedonline.com/starter_packs.htm .  For acoustic, the Yamaha Gigmaker packages are good ($170 for standard $190 for the deluxe) because they come with tuners.  For electric, the Jay Turser guitar system ($190) or bass system ($250) is good because it comes with software that allows you to use your computer as a tuner and a metronome.  Electric Guitar & Bass packages come with amplifiers.
