pirate7.gif MCAS Math is upon us. I hope everyone in our class sees how important it
is try their best. Speaking of effort, I would hang on to the goal sheet that students
completed for the third term and were inserted in their progress reports.
Let's see if the goals and grades match up by the end of the term.

Here's a quick look of what we've been doing in the curriculum.
Reading- We're finishing our trade book discussion groups. Many terrific discussions
were held and we truly enjoyed our books. It was a pleasure introducing my reading
groups to such great literature!
Math- The third term focuses on mastery of operations and how we best problem-solve.
I love the last term because it is a chance for everyone to stretch their math
thinking.
Writing- We're working on personal narratives, animal poetry, and memoir.
Science- We'll finish our study of animal adaptations with a test in the next week. Our
study of animals has led to animal research about animals from the temperate forest.
We're learning real notetaking from books and collecting information from
various animal websites.
Social Studies- We've finished our study of the Puritans. There was a great deal of interest in the
Salem witch trials! Then we take a brief look at the American revolution. Our field trip on
May 17th is a focus on life in early Salem and its maritime heritage.
