Hello Everyone,
It's been another two weeks since I last updated I'm not keeping up very
well. Last friday we visited the Library for the second time I tried to get
each student to pick a book that they could read. They seem to really enjoy
the visit Mr. Whalen helped out this time. If you have not returned the books
from the last visit please do so soon to avoid a large fine.
This friday November 20th is the Holly Fair we will visit as a class during
the school day please send your child with some money to spend we suggest
$10.00 if that is possible and a bag to put their purchases in one with a
handle if you can. Students must bring in their lunch we will be eating lunch
in the classroom. There will ne NO PIZZA.
Report cards were sent home last tuesday please sign and return them to
school if you haven't already.
The last two weeks in Language Arts we have been working on the short vowel
sounds of "a" and "i" this week we will have a review week. Students started
learning about sentence structure, punctuation, naming words (nouns) and
action words (verbs) also all sentences begin with upper case letters. This
will be the focus in writing for the next month during writing workshop and
other short writing projects.
The focus in Math has been addition practice using the counting on strategy
and adding on a number line. This week they will be introduced to subtration
using a number line this gets a little confusing since they now have to go in
the opposite direction.
Next week we are in school for only two and a half days so we will be
reviewing, there will not be a spelling list next week.
Please try to send in a water bottle everyday they get very thirsty.
