Hello Everyone
Wow! I can't believe that it is already November and our first quarter ended
last friday time certainly moves quickly. Sorry that I didn't update this
page last week I had three people home with the flu and I had a miserable
cold I focused on only doing what I needed to do each day so that I could get
to bed early each night. I'm glad to say we are all healthy and everyone is
back to work. We did have to cancel the visit by my son the firefighter since
he was one of the sick ones, I don't think we will be able to reschedule
since he is very busy this month.
As I mentioned marks closed last week and report cards will be going home
next week. This year parent conferences will be held after the second quarter
report card. If you have any concerns about your child's report card please
let me know.
This week in Language Arts students will begin learning and practicing short
vowel sounds, the focus this week will be short a. Students have finished
the first reader in the series of five, they are very excited and proud of
their accomplishment. I hope to start the home reading program soon.
Last week in Math students were introduced to two new strategies for
addition, counting on 1 or 2 and using a number line to add. I will be
encouraging them to use these especially the number line instead of their
fingers.
I am doing everything I can to keep the germs at bay. Students are washing
their desks at least twice a week with clorox wipes. If they don't get to
wash their hands before snack I make sure they use hand sanitizer. I also
think it is a good idea for each student to bring in a water bottle instead
of going to the water fountain, some students are thirsty all the time.
Please send a water bottle everyday. If possible I could use a few more
containers of clorox wipes or any similar brand. I have plenty of hand
sanitizer right now.
Students go out for recess everyday please make sure they are dressed for te
weather.
Wednesday is an EARLY RELEASE DAY 11:30. No school next Wednesday November
11th.
Have a great week.
