QUESTIONS? Please review the information below. We hope that it will answer
many questions you may have.

Books: We are very fortunate to have new Social Studies books this year! It
is important to keep these books in good shape and one way to do this is by
using book covers. Brown paper bags will work and they look great when they
are decorated. Students are also welcome to use the stretchy fabric book
covers.
They are available at Wal-Mart for $0.50, but the paper bags are obviously
free from the grocery store!

Communicating with the teacher: Do you need to reach the teacher? Please
feel free to send in a note, email, or make a phone call to the school.
Emails and phone calls will not be responded to during the school day, but
they will be taken care of within 24 hours.

Extra Help: If your student needs extra help with anything, the teachers are
available on Tues, Wed, and Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 8:50. We just
ask that students notify the content area teacher the day before he/she is
planning to come for extra help. This way, the teacher will be prepared.

Donations: Donations are greatly appreciated in the classroom. Over the
winter, students will be inside for recess. If you have any games or puzzles
that are not being used, we would love to have them in the classroom.
Sometimes, students will be allowed to bring in a game for a day with
permission. Our classroom is also in need of some good books. If you have
books that are not being read anymore, our classroom would also love to have
them! They do not have to be at a 6th grade reading level. If you have any
extra window fans around the house, we would love to borrow them! It gets
very hot on the third floor on those sunny days! Lastly, prizes for monthly
drawings would be greatly appreciated!

Feel free to ask me about anything else you are willing to donate. We are
very resourceful!

Homework: Homework is important because it reinforces what the student
learned that day. Students will be assigned homework nightly. It is due
the next day unless specified differently. Homework will be graded on
effort, if it is complete and neat, the student will get a 100. From time
to time, it will be taken for a quiz grade. This will be random.

Picking up your child: If your child is going to be picked up by someone
other then the parent, you must send a note into the teacher. If there is
not a note sent into the school explaining who is picking your child up, the
school will have to contact the parent for permission. A note is to protect
your child.

A note is also necessary if your child is leaving school in a different way.
This note should specify whether the student is a bus, van, or walker.

Supplies: Specified materials are necessary to student success in the sixth
grade. Please refer to the classroom supply list.

Teamwork: Just like sports, the sixth grade is a team. It is important to
work together and help each other out. Our goal is to form a wonderful
community with in our classrooms. Where would we be if we only depended on
ourselves?

Water: Water is very important for the brain and body. Students can keep a
water bottle on their desk and drink it as needed. Please make sure the
bottle has a tight cap so it does not spill if it is tipped over.
