Dear Families,
¡Hola y bienvenidos a la clase de español! This year I will be teaching Spanish in the Pre K,
Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd & 3rd grade classrooms once a week. On Wednesdays afternoons I will
see Grades 3, K and 1. On Friday mornings I will see PreK and Grade 2.
Overall children in elementary school are very enthusiastic about learning about a new culture
and language.
I am very excited to be teaching your children!
I would like to request your assistance at home by asking you to encourage them in learning a
new language. The most common mistake we make in front of our children is to say something
like, "I was never very good at Spanish." Even if that was the case, many will have a different
experience, especially since they are having an introduction to Spanish at such a young age.
This year I will send our work home weekly or bi-weeky so you can see their progress, and learn
along side your child.
There are several fun websites they can visit. PBS Kids has a show called "Oh Noah" or "Noah
Comprende" that uses a lot of Spanish, as well as Dora the Explorer and Maya & Miguel.
There is a great phone/iPad application called Spanish under "e Flash Apps" that has Spanish
Flashcards and games. If you learn of others, please feel free to share them with me. Quizlet is
another website, as well as Enchanted Learning that has additional Spanish activities.
Many of the students enjoy listening to music in Spanish. There are many playlists available
through iTunes. Some of my favorites are: Jorge Anaya Whistlefritz "¡A Bailar!" and Louie
Miranda "Cantemos Let's Sing."
This year we will be learning and reinforcing our focus on numbers, the alphabet, colors, days of
the week, a prayer, some basic introductory phrases and polite words. In addition I will
introduce the children to the Spanish language and culture through children's stories, as well as
music and games.
Please feel free to contact me anytime via email at
