Summer Reading!

Hello families and happy summer!

Research suggests that reading with your child 15 - 30 minutes a day will improve your child's reading level. We, at Pentucket Regional School District, strongly believe in this research.... and what better way to spend some quality time together?! Make the commitment to read daily together and make a world of difference in your child's reading success! What a gift to give your child!!!

Read to your child every day.
√ Read books repeatedly, exploring different aspects of the story.
Books that have repetitions lend themself to inviting a child to "jump in." Invite them!
New words are opportunities for vocabulary growth. Point them out!
√   Ask about the pictures and about what is happening in the story. Predict (or infer) what may happen next.
Explore different types of children's books, including fairy tales, song books, poems, and informational books.

Think critically about what you are reading... what connections do you have with the book? what is the underlying author's message in the story?

Most of all have fun learning together!

Some students created booklists of interests in their classrooms at the end of the year and others may rely on our Pentucket Reads suggested authors and books. Here are our additional suggested books that you can find at our local libraries or book store:
