About The Teachers

Mrs. Sewall:
Mrs. Sewall has been teaching at the Steward School for the past
fourteen years. Throughout the fourteen years she has had the opportunity
to teach first grade for six years, second grade for six years and
kindergarten for 2 years. It is with much excitement and enthusiasm that
she is returning to second grade. Mrs. Sewall has her Master's Degree in
Curriculum Developement and enjoys working on many different curriculum
committees in Topsfield. During her time here at Steward School, Mrs. Sewall
has been nominated on three seperate occassions for Massachusetts Teacher of
the Year.

Mrs. Costa:
Mrs. Costa has been teaching in Topsfield for the past eight years. For
the first four years, she taught first grade. She is currently in her fifth
year of teaching second grade. Mrs. Costa recently completed a licensure
program to become a school administrator. These classes allowed her the
opportunity to study current issues in education and learn more about
technology, school law, curriculum development and assessment. The most
exciting achievement thus far has been becoming one of four finalists for
Massachusetts Teacher of the Year in 2007.

We share the joy of being mothers to three beautiful children. Mrs.
Sewall has a four year old son named Jack who is now in his second year of
preschool. Last September, she had a daughter named Ella who loves her big
brother! Mrs. Costa had a baby right before Christmas named Lucy Anne. She
is a lot of fun and loves to laugh. We are so fortunate to have the
opportunity to spend time with both our own children and the smart and
talented second graders in our class!
We also enjoy being involved with the community of Topsfield. Our
students are our number one priority and keeping ourselves involved in the
community of Topsfield allows us to better communicate with parents and
understand our students' environment. We have both had the opportunity to
emcee the Fashion Show fundraiser and have been seen at a few PTO
fundraising galas. We have attended numerous school committee meetings. We
believe it is important to model being an involved citizen to second graders
so they too can become excited about their incredible communities, both
Steward School and Topsfield.

Mission For The Class

Our mission in Room 206 is to be a classroom that puts learning first. We
are proud to be enthusiastic learners who always try our best. Our
classroom is safe and everybody is our friend.
