December 14, 2009 Social Studies-- We have finished our Pilgrim journals. We will continue to study the history of the Massachusetts. Math- We are reviewing concepts that the children were unsure of on the interim assessment. We are also working on multiplication and division facts for 0,1,2, 5 and 10. Writing- We will be continuing our look at what makes good writing and a good paragraph this week. Reading- During small group reading, we will be doing our first book club this week. Book clubs are when they children choose from 4 books that they may read and then join others who are reading the same book to discuss their thinking. The reading is done both in class and at home and the chidlren use sticky notes to mark discussion points. The discussions will occur during reading time. Handwriting- We are continuing our look at uppercase cursive letters. The children are now beginning to trace their cursive spelling words in preparation of writing their spelling homework in cursive.
