This year, in Social Studies, we will be learning about all 50 states and their capitals. To do this, we will do many things.1. We will learn about each region of the U.S by studying each state in that region, and learning about its capital. We will also look at creative illustrations that may help us remember the state's capital. 2. We will also participate in a "Postcard Exchange." Our class will create a postcard all about Massachusetts. We will send our postcard to the 49 other states. In return, we will (should) receive one postcard from each of the other 49 states with information about their state. We will then mark that state on our US map, and document important information about that state in our "State Scrapbook." We will do many other things with these post cards, but the important thing is learning about each state and its capital.3. We will practice locating states on a US map. I have some great websites students can use to practice this at home. Feel free to start practicing!http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/web_games.htmhttp://www.yourchildlearns.com/mappuzzle/us-puzzle.htmlhttp://www.primarygames.com/states/start.htmhttp://www.yourchildlearns.com/mappuzzle/us-features-puzzle.html
