Is it O.K. to send cake in for my child's birthday? I would prefer cupcakes or cookies. It is much easier to serve quickly, makes less mess, and there is no need for knives, plates, or forks. This will only be allowed on specified Birthday Celebrations Day once a month. Can my child bring flavored water in the water bottle? Absolutely not! Having water bottles is a privelage and will be taken away if the rule is not strictly followed. We do not want to attract ants if there is a spill. Is it a good idea to purchase books from Scholastic Book order forms? In my opinion, yes! Many of the books are usually discounted, and they are geared for your child's reading level. It's a great way to encourage children to read by letting them choose their own reading material. How often will book order forms come home? I try to send them home once a month. If ever you'd like to purchase books as a gift for your child, please jot me a quick note along with your order and I will contact you by phone when the order arrives. How much help should I give my child on homework? Please allow your child to read the directions to you. Be sure your child understands what they mean and then walk away. If your child is really having difficulty, assist, however let me know so that I can help out as well. difficulty, help get started and then expect independence. Please check your child's work for neatness, completeness, and be sure it is done correctly. Have your child correct mistakes before bringing it to school. Does my child have to make up the work that is missed when absent? While You Were Out folders are made for every child who is not present. Work that can be sent home will be placed in the folder for your child to complete. It is expected back within a few days. Can parents come in to help out in the class? Absolutely! I have an open door policy and welcome as much help as possible. Parents can listen to children read, read to children, assist with center activities and classroom parties etc. Just let me know when you are available. |
