DOE's ELPBO and FAQs

The DOE has produced a document entitled "English Language Proficiency
Benchmarks and Outcomes for English Language Learners," referred to as ELPBO.
The purpose of the document is to define for all teachers of LEP students
indicators which show students have made progress in learning English. The
hard copy appears in the same format as the of the state frameworks: most of
the ELPBO standards are taken from the ELA frameworks. The ELBPO lists
standards by grade level and student proficiency level.
