Please have your kids read this newsletter with you. . .
We've hit the ground running this year! We have a new reading series,
StoryTown, which we will be beginning the week of the 8th. This series was
chosen last year after a long process. The Literacy Team, with the input of
all classrooms teachers, examined four different series, and agreed that this
is the series that has the potential to really help our children become great
readers and writers. We are excited about it!
This week we wrote up our class rule contract:
1. Keep your body to yourself.
2. Include one another. share with people.
3. Clean up after yourself.
4. Use good manners.
5. Have a good attitude.
These rules are generated by the students, we discuss them, and change them
so they sound just right. Then we all sign them and post them on the wall.
We also have a goal to be the best second grades we can be, and we know these
rules will help us do just that! Please discuss the rules with the kids at
home, and ask them what each one means to them.
