Homework will begin the week of September 15th. Second grade homework will
be quite different from first grade homework. Children are expected to be
much more responsible for completing and returning their homework on
time. "My mom forgot to put it in my backpack" doesn't work in second
grade!!
**a reading log will be sent home each Monday, and will be due
Friday. Children should aim to read at least 10-15 minutes a day
**all other homework will be sent home nightly and due the next day. If it
is not returned they will have to complete it during their recess time
**reading books sent home in the purple folders MUST be read at home and
returned the next day. Recess time will be lost if the books are not back.
**On occasion there will be things sent home which they will have a longer
period of time to complete the assignment--it will be specified on the paper
Please help your child get into the routine of setting aside a regular time
to complete their homework: right after school, while dinner is cooking,
after dinner. Having a routine helps the children to develop the habits they
need for success!
