--------------------------------------
Should I correct my child's homework?
You should always review your child's homework each night to check for
neatness and correctnes. Have your child correct any errors you find. Have
them rewrite any messy writing.
--------------------------------------
Does my child have to write in cursive?
Yes, unless the teacher has said otherwise in class, all 4th graders are
expected to write in cursive. There may be a few exceptions.
--------------------------------------
What if my child is absent?
If your child is absent, if possible call the school and arrange to pick up
class work/homework at the end of the day. The usual policy is for every day
he/she is absent, they have that same number of days to make up the work.
Extenuating circumstances will be handled differently.
--------------------------------------
Should I help my child with homework?
Absolutely. If your child is struggling with the homework, certainly try to
help them. If they are having an extremely difficult time with the concept
be
sure to jot me a note.
--------------------------------------
What is theHomework Schedule!
The Homework Schedule is the homework assignment sheet that your student
uses to record
their daily homework. Your responsibility is to LOOK at the homework each
night and have your child correct it. You should then initial it. On
Thursdays, your student should return it completed.
He /She may earn a star by returning completed schedule on time.
--------------------------------------
What is the purpose of these weekly reading assignments I have do?
These reading assignments each have a focus area. Helping your student will
increase their ability to comprehend a wider variety of text, and it will
allow them to practice reading outloud/fluency.
--------------------------------------
How can I help improve my student's reading level?
Read fun and exciting books together. Take turns reading with them. Discuss
the books
( not by asking comprehension questions), but simply by talking about the
characters, the events- Make the discussion authentic.
--------------------------------------
What is the best way for me to contact the teacher?
E-mail me with any questions or concerns. rharcourt@uxbridge.k12.ma.us
--------------------------------------
Why is the teacher asking me to sign each homework assignment?
This is probably due to the poor quality of the recent homework being
passed
in. To ensure that a parent is indeed checking the accuracy of all
homework ,
you may be asked to sign each assignment.

What is considered an appropriate snack?
We have a 10 minute period to eat a snack, and so it should be something
nutritious and quick. Fruit is highly recommended or cheese and crackers.
