Día de los Muertos

A traditional altar

Day of the Dead, Nov. 1 and 2- 
This is a traditional altar 
created for the 
students'deceased uncle. It's a 
memorial that celebrates his life 
by displaying objects and photos 
that help the family remember 
him. This is a holiday celebrated 
in Mexico, some other South Am. & 
Central Am. countries, and the 
Southwestern U.S.

Components of a Traditional Altar

A traditional altar includes a 
arch,marigold flowers, religious 
photos, photos of the deceased, 
food, bread, fruit,candy 
skeletons and/or skulls, things 
that represent what the ancestor 
loved, decorative paper banners, 
candles, water, salt, soap and a 
towel.
