Algebra II Honors Syllabus

Course:	Algebra II Honors

Objectives:	Students will continue to develop math skills as well as preparing
for the MCAS and SAT exams.  Students will learn to solve linear, quadratic,
polynomial, exponential, rational and irrational functions.  Students will
learn to graph linear, quadratic, logarithmic, and conic functions.  MCAS
practice will consist of practice exams and computer application programs.  A
graphing calculator will be needed.

Materials:
Graphing Calculator Recommended (TI83 or TI83 Plus)
Spiral Notebook
Folder
Pen or Pencil

*Scientific Calculator is Ok (TI 30) but a graphing calculator would be a
better option

Requirements:
Nightly Homework Assignments
Weekly Quiz/Test
Practice MCAS Tests

Homework Policy:
Students will have nightly assignments which are posted on the schools
website.  Each student will start with a 100 average and assignments will be
worth 5 points each.  Each missed assignment will result in a 5-point
deduction.  Ex. Two zero’s equals a 90 homework average.  

Grading Policy:
Test Average		50%
Quiz Average		30%
Homework Average	20%

Make Up Policy:
Students will have the opportunity to make up each quiz or test.  They will
have one week to make up the quiz/test.  The maximum grade on a retake exam is
a 70.

Applied Geometry Syllabus

Objectives:	Students will continue to develop math skills as well as preparing
for the MCAS exam.  Students will learn angles, polygons,  congruent
triangles, quadrilaterals,  parallel lines, perimeter, area, and volume. 
Students will learn to graph linear functions.  MCAS practice will consist of
practice exams and computer application programs.  A scientific calculator
will be needed.

Materials:
Scientific Calculator Recommended (TI30)
Spiral Notebook
Folder
Pen or Pencil
