Famous Americans

Each year,in January, our third grade class studies Famous Americans. Students choose from a list of Famous people and inventors someone they would like to know more about. They are responsible for researching one page of information. They need to include  why their famous person is still remembered and what makes him/her so famous. They need to include any interesting facts about their person's life. In class, they will receive books and information collected to help them learn about their person. In class, we will also study a few people all together...especially Benjamin Franklin. Harriet Tubman....Lincoln and Washington. We will view a series of American Classics videos that are interesting and fun to watch and age appropriate.
As part of the project, they will make a poster to share with the class. On the day they present their poster and information, they are encouraged to dress up as their person and take on the role. They will receive a certificate award for all their hard work.
Please view some samples of posters made  by clicking on the link below!
