Animal Collage Books, 2010

Students began their Animal Adaptation unit with research and a written report. Using what they learned about their animals, they began to create animal collage books. First they painted lots of paper with a variety of art techniques including marbling, sandpaper rubbing, and saran wrap crinkling. Then they used these papers to build collages that told a story about their animals. When the collages were complete, students wrote their stories. This was all done through a companion program to Picturing Writing, called "Image-Making Within the Writing Process."
